Meet Maylynn & Adam and peep their fun Asheville Engagement session below!
I have some big goals for 2020 and one of those goals is to finally let the world in on all the magic I’ve been a part of over the last couple of years. Sometimes when you are in the thick of running a business, editing, communicating with clients, and all the other things no one tells you about you forget to actually share your work! So this year I’m committed to sharing some gorgeous couples with you that I’ve been hiding away.
I thought I’d start with this couple because I’ve been swooning over all the amazing wedding details Maylynn has been sharing on her Instagram stories. (Umm like her insanely dope Paul Kaufman boots she ordered as her wedding shoes and a custom wedding day hat she picked up on a recent trip to Nashville.)
This was a particularly fun engagement session because we snuck away to the North Carolina Mountains (kids in tow) and got to, not only shoot these awesome folks but also spend some time hanging out with them too! Most of this session took place alongside the French Broad River in Hot Springs. Super close to where their actual wedding day will take place next fall. After some fun riverside train track photos, we headed to a hidden lookout. On top, the couple popped a bottle of champagne for some fun action shots and Adam started to turn up. (A personal tip of mine: Alcohol always makes for more exciting photos.)
We laughed, danced, drank, and I conquered some serious fear of heights and took the phrase “do it for the gram” literally. When the sunset we headed into Asheville for some amazing dining and of course more brews. We wrapped up the night snuggled up in Maylynn’s family cabin with an episode of SNL and a rap battle super exhausted from such a cool day.
The next morning Maylynn dressed up in a traditional Korean Hanbok paying homage to her family’s culture and we headed into Maggie Valley for more photos at a waterfall. Props to any chick that can hike a super slick trail in any sort of gown.
We ended the weekend with a delicious pancake breakfast and headed back to ATL.

This engagement session was fun for a lot of reasons, but it was right up my alley because it was in a location that was specifically significant to the couple. As an avid snowboarder, Maylynn has spent many winters on the slopes in Maggie Valley and Hot Springs holds a special place in Adam’s heart with all the outdoor opportunities. I always suggest that my couples make their session uniquely “them” by choosing a location that holds meaning to their relationship. Going away for a weekend adventure doesn’t hurt either. 😉
Cheers to May & Adam! So excited for you both and stoked for future adventures with you two.
